War and Peace, a review

War and Peace, a review

Juan José Angulo de la Calle

The book War and Peace was written by Tolstoi in the nineteenth century. Although it is very famous, it is not very popular because it has almost two thousand pages.

The novel is set in Russia in the begining of the nineteenth century, during the Napoleonic wars.

It is about the life of three aristocratic families during the Napoleonic wars: their relantionships, their parties, their romantic histories and, of course, their participation in the different wars against Napoleon. Besides, Tolstoi describes the terrible effects of the wars: destruction, deaths and pain.

Apart from that, the characters are quite interesting because: they have different opinions about the life and the war, they are pasional and similar to us, and they are develping their personality during the story.

Everybody must read this book because the plot is really thought-provoking: it has a message which says the war is an organized crime and the peace is the real nature of humanity.
