A Clockwork Orange, a review

A Clockwork Orange, a review

Juan José Angulo de la Calle

The film A Clockwork Orange is based on the book by Anthony Burgess. The film was directed by Stanley Kubrick, the director of 2001: A Space Odyseey. It starts Malcom McDowell, Patrick Magee, Adrienne Corn and Miriam Corri.

The movie is set in London in 1970. It was filmed in London, Buckinhamshire and Hertfordshire.

The film is about an aggressive boy who accepts to participate in a new psychiatric experiment. Because of that, if he tries to use violence (“ultra-violence” in his words), he will feel sick and, as a result, he will not finish his violent action. On the other hand, he cannot listen to Beethoven's music because it was the soundtrack of the experiment an it is extremely disgusting for the boy. Therefore, in the final scene, he tried to kill himself when he heard this music.

Everybody must watch this movie because the plot is really thougt-provoking: it has a message which says that freedom is more important than security.
